5 Things I Love about Christmas

Christmas has always been a favorite holiday of mine. Not for the gifts I receive (which aren't many as the adults in our family don't exchange many gifts), but for many other reasons.

1. I love getting the tree and decorating it while listening to Christmas music. A favorite CD I have is John Denver and the Muppets, a Christmas Together.

2. I love holiday shows, where kids sing holiday songs and enjoy the season. Yes, that's my little guy last year, in the red and grey sweater.

3. Stockings. I used to LOVE getting my stocking each year. We were allowed to see what Santa brought us whenever we woke up, but we had to wake until my parents were up, and we had breakfast, before we could open our other gifts. Another think I remember is that there was always an orange in the toe of my stocking.
4. I love to go see Christmas lights. This is from the zoo, when my son was just over a year old.

5. Last, opening presents in my family growing up, took forever. I would always play "Santa" in that I got to give out the gifts, one at a time, to each member of the family, and we would take turns opening, one at a time, truly enjoying what we received and taking time to tell the giver thanks. It would be hours we would spend doing this. (I owe it to Helena for letting me know you can add moving "gif." files. Thanks Helena!)

What is one of your favorite holidays and why?
