My Phobia: Glitter

I am highly fearful of glitter. Yes, glitter, the kind of stuff that sticks anywhere and everywhere and never comes off.

This is a really bad picture, I know, but I was playing Whoonu, and got the glitter card. I could barely even hold onto the card.

It sticks to your skin and you try and try with all you might to pick it off. It comes off onto your finger. Then it is stick there. You try to wipe it on your pants, and next thing you know, it is stuck to your pants. You put your pants in the wash, and it comes off, only to jump onto another item of clothing....Let's not talk about when it gets sprinkled into your hair. I think it is Barbie Day or something like that.

Last year I was asked by a certain art teacher at school to cover her class on the day she gets really excited and sprinkles glitter on every student. It stuck to the bottoms of my shoes while I taught and internally, I panicked, knowing it would come back to my office with me. A student asked if they could do the sprinkling, and you can bet I let her do it!

I am trying to overcome my phobia, like showing a student he had glitter on him and even attempted to help him get it off. That's not easy as you know...

What type of silly thing are you afraid of?

Assignment: Open Prompt

Students,
Do a post from any of the suggestions below (write a well-written paragraph at least, explaining at least three reasons why, include a photo from the web, and ask a question of your readers:

1) What I love about middle school
2) What I find most challenging about being a teen
3) If I had a day where I could do anything, I would......
4) If I were deserted on an island, I would want to have these 3 things with me

If I were stranded on a desert island...

and could only have 3 material things (not including people), I would want to have:

1. A pair of comfortable shoes. There's nothing like having sunburned, sore feet, and who knows what I might step on? I'd like something like this, that would be nice and cool, easy to hike in, and durable. I love Chaco shoes.
2. A bottle or some other container for water (hopefully I could find some drinking water to boil).
This is currently my favorite kind, so if I happened to have it with me, I'd be happy. It would help me stay hydrated and protected from creepy-crawlies that might want to get in my water.

Lastly, I'd want:
3. a towel or blanket under which to lay on a cold night or protect myself from too hot of a sun.
Here's a Mickey Mouse blanket, one I'd like to buy for my son. Sure, it doesn't fit my style, but it would remind me of him and make me happy (or sad, because I'm on a deserted island without him).

If you were on a deserted island, what three things would you want to have?

Assignment: Three of my Favorite Places

Students,
Where are three of your favorite places you've ever visited, been to, or would like to go to? Please post a photo you find on the web for each of the 3 places, and tell us why for each one. Below will be a sample.
Also, as another "challenge", play around with font colors and sizes on this post. If you aren't sure how, I can show you.

Be very cautious about staying within the security guidelines in doing this assignment.
For instance, if we live in Georgetown, Kentucky, don't write, "I love Georgetown, Kentucky, because I have lived there my whole life!" Remember, we want to use internet safety and not tell where we live. Instead, you might write, "I love Georgetown, Kentucky, because it is so beautiful and there are a lot of things to do there."

Three of my Favorite Places

 1. One of my favorite places in this world (so far) is Fiji. I was able to visit there for 9 days during my honeymoon and go scuba diving with my husband. They have some of the most beautiful tropic fish and coral reefs I have ever seen, as well as some of the most beautiful island landscapes.
2. Another one of my favorite places is Stockheim, Germany. It is one of the furthest places away that I have visited, beside Fiji, and part of my husband's family lives and is from there. A year after I went to Fiji, we traveled to Germany to visit his relatives and travel around. We hope to take my son there again in about 2 years. The old homes, architecture and landscape are amazing to me! I also really loved the food.
3. My third favorite place that is on my mind is Prescott, Arizona. I just LOVE the small town feel, I have friends and family there, and I love the outdoor environment. Here are some photos from there. This is Watson Lake. I also have some photos of Watson Lake in my office.
This is Thumb Butte, a place I like to hike in Prescott.
What are 3 of your favorite places and why?
